The biographer of John Major and Tony Blair, a well-known British writer and historian, Anthony Seldon, is working on rolling out positive psychology and happiness education in schools, starting from the college where he is the headmaster.

Watch these spaces:

  • Well-being Institute @ Cambridge Uuniversity (led by Dr Nick Baylis)
  • Happiness courses @ Harvard University
  • Anthony Seldon’s happiness and positive psychology lessons @ Wellington College

In particular, Anthony’s lessons will be about emotional learning and emotional intelligence, reflective activity not traditional classes. In other words, pupils learn more about themselves and can make use of this information for the rest of their lives:

  • how to form healthy and sustain relationships
  • understand the goals they should want to set in life i.e. realistic and appropriate for their talents and interests
  • explore negative emotions which are an inevitable part of life: 1) what it is that is causing pain and unhappiness, 2) how to avoid or minimise these emotions, 3) how to deal with them when they occur
